Controls Engineer

Job Summary

This individual will develop automation and technology innovation solutions for manufacturing processes.
Requires expertise in developing hardware and software specifications for assembly equipment automation.
Requires expertise in Lean production principles; capable of analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force to maximize efficiency; and improving production design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

Lead development and implementation of automation in manufacturing assembly and inspection processes. Develop designs and specifications, manage vendors, install and validate automated systems and equipment.

Lead project development and implementation for (a) new assembly equipment and (b) technology innovation initiatives.

Continuously investigate and develop opportunities for technology innovation. Develop business cases to justify necessary capital investments.

Develop systems and layouts that follow lean manufacturing philosophies of one-piece flow and kanban, with emphasis on error proofing.

Utilize process planning tools such as FMEA, Process Plans, SPC, and DOE in project development activity.

Develop maintenance programs for equipment. Provide training in the operation and maintenance of new equipment.

Develop and implement improvements to existing automation, focusing on productivity, repeatability, and quality assurance.

Work closely with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve issues and provide technical support

Qualifications

Manufacturing Automation Engineer with 3+ years' experience.

BS in Engineering or equivalent

Lean manufacturing principles (Kanban, JIT, Poke-Yoke)

Experienced in PLCs, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, robotics

Machine specifications, including ergonomics and safety standards

Experienced in AutoCAD,

Solidworks

Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Effective interpersonal and leadership skills
